We practise the style of aikido developed by Professor Kenji Tomiki, a student of the aikido founder Morihei Ueshiba. This style is sometimes called 'Tomiki aikido' or 'sport aikido'; however we emphasise neither competition nor winning. We focus on developing good skills, integrity and a centred life, using sport as a vehicle where appropriate.
As a small aikido club, we can offer a friendly and supportive environment, practising in a safe way. The school was set up because we enjoy aikido and have personally benefited from it. We'd like to share it with the wider community.
We are a not-for-profit organisation that is run entirely by unpaid volunteers.
Our instructors, Rob and Mark, have 3rd dan black belts, graded by Sensei Leoni Macfarlane, Unity Aikido. We are affiliated with Unity Aikido and use their syllabus.
