Welcome!
We practise aikido, a Japanese martial art that aims to resolve conflict without injuring an attacker. Aikido can be practised by people of all ages and physical ability, as it relies not on strength, but on using the opponent's momentum to lead them off-balance into a fall.
Aikido training involves learning the physical techniques, some self-defence and how to fall safely. It's healthy and fun. On another level, aikido training also focuses on life skills, centring and character building. Along the way you get a small taste of Japanese culture and traditions.
We're a small, not-for-profit club that trains in Ashwood (Victoria), studying the style of aikido taught by Sensei Kenji Tomiki.
We're friendly and down-to-earth. If you'd like to come along to watch or join in, you're welcome!
